The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

All outbound emails MAIL+FROM:postmaster@domain.com

Asked by tclydesdale in Email Servers, Windows 2003 Server, Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP)

I administer a dedicated Windows 2003 Standard webserver with Plesk installed as the website/domain management application. Plesk uses MailEnable as its mail server of choice, so using the IIS SMTP services is not an option.

The problem is that whenever I send an email (using a script; PHP) from the server I can see the SMTP logs always establish a connection with the remote server as "MAIL+FROM:<postmaster@domain.com>" (See attached code), as apposed to the actual "From" address (in the email headers) that I specified earlier in my code.

When the email comes through to my mailbox, it looks correct; the "From" address is the address I specified (Not Postmaster), and it replys to the correct address. So I know the email headers are setup correctly. The problem is that the bounced emails (NDR's), and autoresponses which end up being sent to postmaster (as it was the "MAIL+FROM" in the SMTP connection).

My question is; how can we setup MailEnable to update the "MAIL+FROM:" (during the SMTP communication with the other server) to show the "From" address I have specified in the email headers?

A bit more background information is:
As we host our own Exchange server at our main office, I have had to disable the "Post office" of this domain in the MailEnable Console. This is to prevent the server from trying to deliver mail for that domain locally.
This server is only used for outbound email.Start Free Trial
