"Activation request failed. A service connection is unavailable."
It says that in the email or on the screen of the blackberry? Are you sure you added the active directory user on the BES? When you activate, an email is sent from RIM to your exchange mailbox and the BES is supposed to see this email, setup the account and then delete the email. If that email is staying in your inbox then there is either something wrong with the BES or it doesn't know to look in that mailbox. Did you create the BESAdmin account with full access to the mailstore on exchange?
On the screen of the phone.
I didn't have a BES account created I created one and followed the below instructions but still the same message
http://www.blackberry.com/
http://na.blackberry.com/e
just read this
You MUST be logged into the server with the BlackBerry® Service Account you created in Step 2 to successfully install the BlackBerry® Enterprise Server
I installed the BES when logged on as local administrator. could that be the problem?
I still getting the same "Activation request failed. A service connection is unavailable." message on the phone.
I installed BES
create BES account
assiged permissions from here http://www.blackberry.com/
logged in as BES installed software
had to download msde and create instance. said was successful
BES found instance and create SQL database
added user to BES
BES sent email to user mailbox
activated wireless FAILED
I have a feeling it maybe a permission issue. Is there anyway to check this out?
I ran bbsrptest and lemstest from the RIM folder and everything was OK

Forgot about the desktop manager, you'll never need to use it if you have a BES. Did you do the enterprise activation?
1. on the bes add the user from AD and set their activation password. make it something easy like 'q'
2. on the phone go into options, advanced options and enterprise activation. Just enter the user's email address and the password you just set and hit "activate".
That should set everything up.
