What kind of email account does he want to link to his blackberry? You don't need any kind of special blackberry-centric host for this, but you do have some options.
1. Use BIS. The Blackberry Internet Service can connect via IMAP to your current email server to sync mail. If you're not using a blackberry enterprise server this is probably the way to go.
2. Get some hosted exchange with blackberry support account. There are tons out there.
It kind of sounds like you're just worried about the size of the mailbox getting out of hand. You can set this up with a gmail account if you want, I set one up yesterday and the mailbox size limit was 7.4GB! You can use gmail with BIS.
