How do you get blacklisted?
I just read on my web host website it says that if we send out too many emails we will get blacklisted, just wondering how is this possible, when all our emails are legit?

just wondering what is the best way to send out application emails without getting blacklisted.
Such as running a forum and sending out account registration confirm emails, subscription notification emails etc. As the user base grows there will be a lot of emails sent out! mainly for notifying the user!
Note this is not for newsletters subscription service etc but rather for basic application emails, exceeding a daily limit of 500 emails per day.

normally to get blacklisted your users would be reporting you.. but if they're users they WANT the emails, so shouldnt be reporting you anyway..
Being blacklisted is 9/10 because your system is sending out mail to people who DONT want it.. and they report you..
Your webhosting company may have their own policies in place, where if you send too many emails THEY will blacklist you, but you wouldnt be internet blacklisted, only with them. Im sure they have another 'plan' that'll cost you more to be able to send more emails or whatever.. personally.. look for another hosting company that dosent threaten you with blacklisting..

There is no reason why you should be blacklisted for running a forum based site.. its only spam that will get you blacklisted.. not ligit emails going to and from users..
You should be fine.. just make sure that you have Reverse DNS Entry setup for your mail server so that your clients mail servers accept the mail..
Cheers
