The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

In Qmail forward ALL outgoing mail to a different IP address

Asked by driven13 in Qmail Email Server

Hello all:

Caveat:  The guy who set up the qmail server has left the company a long time ago and I know nothing about LINUX...[:0(

We recently purchased a Barracuda Anti-Spam appliance and I am in the process of installing it between the Qmail Email Server and the Firewall.

When we turn this Barracuda on, so that I don't have to mess with MX records at all, I am going to switch the Barracuda with the Qmail Email Server.  That way the IP address of the MX record does not change.  All email is delivered to the same IP address it has always delivered to.  The Barracude does it's thing and forwards the "clean" email to the Qmail Email Server sitting on an Internal IP address.

I am having problems with sending out emails.  What I want to do is to "forward" all outgoing emails from the Qmail Email Server to the Barracuda and I don't know how.  On the Barracuda I set it up so that it will acccept and relay all emails coming from the Internal IP address of the Qmail Email Server but I have no clue as to how to make the Qmail Email Server send ALL Outgoing emails to the Barracuda's Internal IP address.

One thing to keep in mind that because we have been using a some kind of a home-grown solution fro fighting SPAM we have been sending out email not only through port 25 but also from ports 3556 and 3557.  So, really, all emails that are outgoing on these ports, 25, 3556, 3557, need to be forwarded to the Barracuda's Internal IP address.

My knowledge of anything Linux is zero to NILL....[:0(...but I can follow instructions pretty good...[:0)

Can anybody help me with this?

Thanx,
