Browse All TopicsWe have a linux shared server which has many virtual domains o get hosted and also as a mail server.
We have given 0.0.0.138 for mailserver and 0.0.0.143 for webserver and both of them resolves to a common hostname. While sending mails to particular domain it was rejected saying "Remote host said: 450 Client host rejected: cannot find your hostname" in which 0.0.0.138 fails the forward lookup.
We have added 0.0.0.138 as a spf record in DNS too. What can we do in this regard to solve this issue.
A reverse lookup on 0.0.0.138 states that it identifies itself as test.com.
A forward lookup on test.com however states that the only machine for this domain name is 0.0.0143.

Both of these IPs are on the same machine right? Instead of having them both point to the same domain name (test.com), have each one point to its own:
0.0.0.138 => mail.test.com
0.0.0.143 => web.test.com
Then set the appropriate PTR records for both those names to point back to those IPs and you should be fine.
