Sendmail set-up with no domain name: 550 cannot route to sender

I am trying to use sendmail to send an email including an attachment, from a system which WILL be using gprs, so, the ip address will be dynamic.
I have found many how-to's and guides using sendmail, but almost all assume that a domain name is associated with the system. I gather that mail is normally rejected by email servers if it originates from *@localhost, but dont know how to change it in this configuration.
It is not important what the originating or reply-to addresses are (as long as it's accepted by the destination email server) because the destination email address used (mine) will remain constant and will be hard-coded into my c program.
Also, I do not have access to the [destination] email server configuration, as it is provided by an isp.
Running Linux (Slack, kernel 2.6.1), Sendmail 8.12.10

It should be noted that the test conditions used here are NOT using the gprs connection/dynamicIP because it is expensive to test send data this way, and here the machine is on my LAN (priv IP) connecting via a NAT gateway.
I DO have a domain name accisible to me (with access to BIND DNS zone) but would prefer not to use it.
Also, I do have a number of pop3/auth-smtp email accounts which could be used to bounce this email, if you think this would be an easier option.

I hope this is all the information needed, if not then i will answer questions as quickly as possible due to the urgency of this prob.
