Clear sendmail mail queue automatically

We using sendmail server for local intranet mail. some time mails are in queue. we need to clear the queue manually. we want to clear the mail queue automatically or we need to receive mail alert regarding mailq to administrator.

Hi vikingtechnologies,

I dont want to delete the queue.  I want to clear (push the mail queue) the queue automatically when mails are in queue or administrator should receive alert regarding mails are in queue.

"The command /usr/sbin/sendmail -q forces the queue to be sent. Use the command mailq to tell what's stacked up in the queue."

You should probably just leave the queue alone and let it work itself out. If messages are in there, there is a reason, and forcing the queue probably won't help. Most of the time it's due to delivery problems (recipient's box is full and the server wont' accept any more, being greylisted, or even backscatter). Sendmail will keep trying to send these are regular intervals on its own.
