Tags:Duplicate email to outside recipient with same time stamp
We are using MS exchange 2003 with SP2 uas for our internal mail server. Cipher trust Ironmail as the gateway for all incoming and sending out mails. most of the outside users are complaining that they receive duplicate emails from us with the same time stamp.
when we check the gateway and MS exchange server logs it shows only one mail transaction.
Is there any way that you could check the outbound mail log on Iron mail? Does it also indicate a single message or two instances of message?
Have you tried emailing your own web mail account with a test message to see if it gets duplicated?
If this started recently, try restarting all relevent systems. Ironmail and Exchange. If there were any configuarations done on either, is there a way for you to backtrack to see what had been done recently?
Thank. 1) Outbound Iron Mail log indicates one mail transaction. 2) I have tried with webmail but not getting duplicate mails. this is not happening all the time and not all users. but the frequency we are getting complains are increasing. 3) It has happened to a single recipient as well.
can it happen due to a wrong mail header information, which recipient downloads multiple mails each time send/receive is happening
Ok. Could you recheck the Ironmail SMTP configuration? See if it has been configured correctly. Did you restart Ironmail?
Is there any similarity in the mail duplication? does it happen in the morning or evening? are the complaints coming from Outlook users or is it spread out. Have you compared the mail header information of a set of emails that were duplicated?
User >1> Exchange >2> Ironmail >3> External
When you send a message (1) and Exchange receives it - if you look at the ESM > Queues - does Exchange directly connect with the other server or does it show as being delivered to Ironmail?
Could you stop using ironmail for outgoing emails? Have exchange send the emails direct?
