- I need a very unique solution for the following:
We have over 400 desktop PC's at separate locations around the country (US) that are still
using Microsoft Outlook 97 as their email client. These desktop PC's currently send/receive their
email by utilizing an overnight dialup polling process. The home office dials into each PC once every night through a third party product that has TCP/IP messaging capability.
- Here's the problem:
We are replacing our current email server with Exchange Server 2007 and we still need to
dial into each PC once every night to send and receive their email. Our third party dialup
product (above) does NOT interface with Exchange 2007, so we are eliminating this product.
Our overnight dialup polling process must deliver email from Exchange Server 2007 to
Outlook 97 without TCP/IP. It must also deliver email from Outlook 97 to Exchange Server 2007 without TCP/IP. We can utilize Powerscript on the Exchange Server 2007 side to import and export .PST files, but we need to find a unique way to automate the Outlook 97 side. So, if we send a .PST file (or whatever) to a PC, then a process must automatically incorporate this email into the email that previously exists on the machine.
