I have a system configured that uses a program called PADL to query LDAP data from the LDAP server, and convert the information into NIS maps.
The problem that I am having, is that when I query big maps, such as mail.byaddr which has about 8,000 entries, it takes a long time to get the data from the LDAP server.
From what I can see... The LDAP server seems to be doing some kind of serial read through the database, and fetching every single record each time I do the query.
So, my question is... How can I configure my Sun ONE Directory server to cache everything into memory so that it will not have to read the data from disk each time I do a query?
I have already added indexes for each attribute that I can find to be necessary for my queries, as well as created vlv indexes, but they don't seem to speed things up at all...
