The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Server 2003 AD, Password GPO problems

Asked by kbws1 in Active Directory, MS Forefront-ISA, Windows 2003 Server

Tags: 2003, password, domain, gpo, ad

Using 2003 Server Active Directory and all XP SP2 clients, i am trying to configure a new password GPO.  I created a new GPO called "password policy", linked it to my domain.  It is defined as followed:  14 characters long, 182 days max, 5 day min, 5 password history, and complex. enabled.  This is configured in the computer setting area (kind of backwards in my opinion).  I then created a new security group within the computers container.  I called this group "staff computers".  I remove the authenicated users and apply this new GPO to the "staff computers" group.  Now on the client i run gpupdate /force and gpresult and all is well.  Works great.  Now for the problem, i have about 10 to 15 users that do not have computer accounts and i need to have the GPO apply to them.  If i apply the GPO to the users it does not work because it is defined in the computer settings not user.  Am i overlooking something or reading into this the wrong way?  I tried to add user groups and users to the GPO and it does not work.  Sorry for the long question but i wanted to explain my scenario to make it easier to understand.  Thanks in advance for any help.  jt
