Hi guys,
I'm the admin of a Windows 2003 environment.
I want to change the permissions on a folder and subfolders on a file server. Currently everyone has Full Control but I now want to 1) prevent them deleting stuff and 2) prevent them from cutting and pasting.
So now - in a test creating a folder and subfolder - I've given a test user 'Read & Execute', 'List folder contents', 'Read' and 'Write' permissions.
This is fine for the most part - the test user can't delete stuff or cut stuff. BUT he can't create a new subfolder (even though these permissions are propagated to all subfolders). Or more accurately, he can create a new folder but can't give it a name. I get the following message:
"Error renaming file or folder Cannot rename New Folder: Access Denied"
Can anyone please point out what I'm doing wrong?
Many thanks in advance for your time,
Stiofan
