The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Missing DNS Entries, Exchange 2007 Install Can't Find Global Catalog

Asked by gsco in Active Directory, Exchange Email Server, Domain Name Service (DNS)

Tags: ,

This is my second post about this problem because Sembee suggested I start a new thread.
Here is the link to the old thread to update yourself to where I am now.

So now I have only the one error left and I am almost positive it has some missing entries/zones that I need. I think that is why the exchnage 07 installer gives me the GC error. When I run nslookup it wasn't giving me a name at first but that was resolved when I added a reverse lookup zone which fixed that issue. Here is that info:

Microsoft Windows [Version 5.2.3790]
(C) Copyright 1985-2003 Microsoft Corp.

C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator.GREGORYSCHAFFER>nslookup
Default Server:  masterserver0.gregoryschaffer.com
Address:  192.168.1.9

> set type=srv
> _ldap._tcp.gc._msdcs.gregoryschaffer.com
Server:  masterserver0.gregoryschaffer.com
Address:  192.168.1.9

_ldap._tcp.gc._msdcs.gregoryschaffer.com        SRV service location:
          priority       = 0
          weight         = 100
          port           = 3268
          svr hostname   = masterserver0.gregoryschaffer.com
masterserver0.gregoryschaffer.com       internet address = 192.168.1.9

I am running out of things to do and this is surpassing my knowledge so I could really use some help.
Thanks
