Deploy Office Compatibility 2007 SP1

I have previously deployed the Office Compatibility 2007 Patch, via AD and a MSI found in C:\Program Files\MSECache\O2007Cnv\1033 after installation on a test machine, this worked fine.
Now SP1 for the patch has been released I want to either update the clients or uninstall\reinstall. The patch is an .exe with a MSP that can be extraced. I extracted this MSP and using the command
msiexec /p ...etc etc I patched the MSI which said was successful, but now trying the 'new' patched MSI it makes no difference and SP1 is not integrated as I expected. What am I doing wrong? how should this patch be deployed then? MSI preferred.Start Free Trial
