my Documents target location shortcut location has changed and I can't key in new location

Old server crashed and moved user profiles to new location.  In AD, changed the home folder to the new location and a drive is mapped to the location.  All is well and shows up in My Computer.  HOwever, laptops that had offline files configured for thier MY Documents folder is still trying to find the old server.  IN the properites of My Docs, I am unable to change the target location.  I can't key anything into the target location bar.  So users are still using their my Documents and the folders on the new server do not have the updated data.  How do I get the offline files in MY Docs to point  to the new location and synchronize the data.  I really don't want this to go on much longer because the difference in the data will be increasing with each day they can't sync.
I thought of just copying the My Docs to the new location, but that will not address the issue of the MY Docs still trying to snyc with the old server location and slowing down performance.
I have tried unchecking the settings in Offline files, but it just keeps going back to the old location.
any suggestions on how to get a new locaiton on MY DOCs.
I do not use Folder redirection in AD.  All was working just fine until the server problems. Start Free Trial
