With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? DNS issues on new DC

Hi,

I purchased a new W2K3 DC (DC02) and last night moved all FSMO roles as per the solution in this posting :http://www.experts-exchange.com/OS/Microsoft_Operating_Systems/Server/2003_Server/Q_22987294.html

All seemed fine last night, however this morning I'm having DNS issues on the new DC which are in turn causing issues with FRS.

The DNS errors from the eventlog are as follows:

EVENT 4004

The DNS server was unable to complete directory service enumeration of zone mydomain.co.uk.  This DNS server is configured to use information obtained from Active Directory for this zone and is unable to load the zone without it.  Check that the Active Directory is functioning properly and repeat enumeration of the zone. The extended error debug information (which may be empty) is "". The event data contains the error.

I also have a warning message: 4521

The DNS server encountered error 32 attempting to load zone MyDomain.co.uk from Active Directory. The DNS server will attempt to load this zone again on the next timeout cycle. This can be caused by high Active Directory load and may be a transient condition.

I can't ping DC02 by IP or name.

The FRS warning messages are:

The File Replication Service is having trouble enabling replication from DC01 to DC02 for c:\windows\sysvol\domain using the DNS name dc01.mydomain.co.uk. FRS will keep retrying.


There is obviously something not right in the DNS setup of the new DC therefore I'd appreciate if someone could assist with where I've gone wrong.
