How do I repromote domain controller after demoting with NTDSUTIL?

Asked by dcvadmins in Active Directory, Windows Networking, Windows 2003 Server

I had to manually remove a DC using NTDSUTIL and now I need to repromote it. When I run dcpromo it tells me the system is still a domain controller. I've removed it from 'Sites and Services' and the DC container in 'Users and Computers'. I followed the steps outlined here: http://windowsitpro.com/article/articleid/13414/how-do-i-remove-a-nonexistent-domain-controller.html
Also DNS is not AD integrated - it's a 3rd party appliance and unix based. Any ideasStart Free Trial
