The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Windows 2003 server errors in dcdiag.exe: PDC Failed MachineAccount test, it cannot replicate.

Dear Experts,
Thank you so much in advanced for any and all assistance and support with this issue.  I have been going around chasing my own tail with this one, going through several weeks, papers, forums, and books without any luck. So thank you for any help.

I have a windows 2003 server Standard Edition with SP2 as a DC (PDC) we'll call it MyDC.  I also have a member server running Windows 2003 R2 (called MyServer2).  I have not ran dcpromo on server2, but was running the preptools for exchange 2003 to install it as the first exchange server in the domain.

When Running dcdiag.exe on MyServer2 (member server) or running it on MyDC (PDC) every test is passed except for the following:

Starting test: MachineAccount
The account MYDC is not trusted for delegation.  It cannot replicate.
         ......................... MyDC failed test MachineAccount
      Starting test: Services
IsmServ Service is stopped on [MyDC]
         ......................... MyDC failed test Services

Also when I run netdiag from MyDC (researching the source of the problem) everything comesback fine except the following test:

  Computer Name: MyDC
    DNS Host Name: MyDC.mydomain.com
System info : Windows 2000 Server (Build 3790)
    Processor : x86 Family 15 Model 2 Stepping 9, GenuineIntel
    List of installed hotfixes :
        KB911564
        ....
   Trust relationship test. . . . . . : Skipped

According to the documentation at hand  this test is actually "passed" rather than "skipped."
I'm running all these test via RDC connections to each server.Start Free Trial
