transfer roles; decommission w2k domain controller

I have a new w2k3 domain controller in a w2k enviroment,, exchange 2003 migration has been completed and i would like to get rid of the w2k domain controller and run the the domain as a w2k3 domain controller,,, I've done a lot of reading and unfortunately, it has made me a little confused as to how to properly, and cleanly, transfer the roles and take the w2k domain controller out of the domain,,, any help would be appreciated as always,,,

Once you have transferred the FSMO roles using the link above, run dcpromo on the 2K DC to demote it to member server status.  

Confirm that all infrastructure services (DNS, DHCP, etc.) have been transferred to another server and that clients have been updated as appropriate.

If the 2K DC won't gracefully demote, you will need to forcibly power it down and perform a metadata cleanup of it from a working DC: http://www.petri.co.il/delete_failed_dcs_from_ad.htm
