Is it possible to move the NTDS & SYSVOL folder to another drive after Active directory installation?

I have a windows server 2003 which is the Domain controller for my domain. the C drive in the server is nearing capacity. i am planning to move the directory services database to D drive coz my ADS Database is expected to grow more in the future. is it possible to move the same without restarting the server & gng through Active directory restoration mode? is there any simple command line utilities there to do this?

hi leew,

thanks for ur solution. but i dont want to demote my ADS. i just want to have the same server running with the same services by moving the databases to another drive.
Did you read what I said?

Did you read the link I provided?

Is this your ONLY DC?

How large is the C: drive?

What's on the C: drive right now?
It is possible to move the folders you specify but not without reatarting the server - and anyway its a bad idea !

I suggest you either follow leew's guide or you consider resizing the partitions with a tool such as BootITNG http://www.terabyteunlimited.com/index.htm or Acronis Disk Director
zuhairGmaty,

Thanks for posting the link to that question that I answered 3.5 years ago... but now I just refer people to the KB article... which is in my web page.  Still, I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS.  THIS SHOULD BE A LAST RESORT.
