The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

2.6
In this environment there are 2 sites, one with a Windows server and a couple of clients at each site running Windows XP sp2.  The Server is a Dell PowerEdge 2900 III with 4GB of RAM and is running Windows Server 2003 R2 Standard Edition SP2.  The server is running as a Terminal Server (i.e. Im using Terminal Services Manager to manage remote users).  The issue Im experiencing is that when a user is done with their RDP session and logoff the RDP session takes a longtime to close.  The performance of the server is good and the RDP login is fast and there are no issues during the session but when you logoff the session takes a considerable chunk of time to close.  What the user is left with is a blue screen that eventually closes.

As part of my researching/troubleshoot I changed the MTU value from the default setting on a windows XP client, 1st to 1300Kpbs, 1200Kbps, and then finally down to 750Kbps (below youll find the exact Registry keys that have been changed.  I used this solution in the past to resolve black screens in RDP sessions.  When I made the change the RDP login was a lot more responsive but still having logging off/closing issues.

ProtocolMTU = 750
TunnelMTU =750

Is there anything that can be done (Server and/or client side) to speed up the RDP logoff/closing process?  If it helps the site with the server has a Cisco ASA 5505 though I strongly believe this is not the cause.  Please let me know if you need any more information.
