We have two domain controllers running Microsoft Windows server 2003. Both are set as domain controllers. One of them is a Solomon IV and SQL server and the other is a shares and print server. Today the shares and print server was offline for about 1 hour and during that time people who were trying to use Solomon were not able to do so. They received error messages about not being able to write to SQL. I'm thinking that these error messages probably had something to do with authentication. I know I should be able to run on one domain controller if the other one is down but it appears that I'm not able to. What settings should I be checking to ensure that I can do this in the future.
The clients are all XP Pro and are configured with the their primary DNS pointed at the first DC and their secondary DNS pointed at the second DC.
Thanks for your help.
