Renaming a domain account

We need to rename a few users on a domain.
The controller is running SBS 2003.
We're not using roaming profiles.
What effect will this have on the local workstation for each individual user that gets renamed, and is there a clean way to move them over?

For example:
User1 needs to be renamed to, say, Joe.Schmoe.

I'm guessing the way to do it would be to rename the user in AD, log them out, log in to the new one so it gets created (locally), log back out, log in as the local administrator, chuck the new profile that was just created, rename the old one to what the new one was called, delete old permissions and set new ones, log out, and log back in as the new user.Start Free Trial
