Hi there,
Coming to you as I can't find anything relevant an the web... I'm maybe not looking with good keywords. Anyway, here is the thing :
I have 3 servers Windows server 2003 R2 last SP.
Same hardware for all 3 of them.
I'm restoring with disaster recovery (Arcserv v11.5) on 3 old servers that have different hardware (very different).
2 of them are DCs
Active directory is Native 2003.
The "PDC" is also the backup server.
So now, what's going on is :
_ Restoring is fine (I had to struggle with network drivers and asr.sif, but now all is fine).
_ The 2 domain controllers are not replicating, I cannot connect from one to the other using TS. When connecting I get this message : "Cannot connect : Specified domain does not exist or could not be contacted"
_ Event Log on PDC is saying :
Event ID 1126
Source : NTDS General
Category : Global Catalog
Description :
Active Directory could not establish connexion with global catalog.
Error:
1355 Specified domain does not exist or could not be contacted
Internal ID : 3200cf3
(This is a tranlation from the original french message).
I was thinking of GUID being modified as system was reinstalled, and one DC could not recognize the other one.
What I'm planning to do is a "metadata cleanup" on PDC (How do call the one holding FSMO roles in 2000/2003?) to remove other DC, remove AD on the other DC (will dcpromo let me ?? As I can't contact PDC) and then re-promote it.
Will it be suffisent ? In the end this Disaster Recovery feature is soooo slow, would be faster to reinstall systems from scratch and just restore users data.
Anyway, I'm looking for any advices. Do you think this will be enough ? Or do I need to completly reinstall system(s) ?
I can attach screenshots - in french - if it can help
regards,
Steven
