The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. Sharing Drive Doesn't Share All SubFolders

I have a fresh install of XP Pro on a machine I'm adding to my home network.  I'll call it box2.  I've set up box2 to permit full sharing with every computer on the network using these settings http://img386.imageshack.us/img386/8819/82738131ik7.gif.   This is exactly the way box1 (also XP Pro) is set up and I have full access to box1 from box2.  

But box1 cannot access most folders on box2.  It can access the root directory but not the Windows directory or Program Files.

It has access to "Documents and Settings" and some of the folders in it, but not to most of the folders.  It has access to "All Users" & "Default User," but not to "LocalService," "NetworkService" or the user folder.  Within the "All Users" folder I have access to some folders and not others.

My other computers are set up like box1 and complete sharing is available between them, so I dont want to configure box2 different and have two configurations to deal with.  And, of course, I dont want to change the configuration of the other machines on the network, since theyre working fine.  

Why isnt box2, which I believe is configured like box1, working like box1?Start Free Trial
