Hello,
Configuring SBS 2003 with roaming profiles, I've altered the User Template to have the relent setting for home folders, terminal service...act.
when I create a new user, using the user template, non of the setting from the template are replicated to the user.
is there a specific way these changes should of been applied to the template. or is there a way to roll out these setting.

Alright. First of all, roaming profiles aren't really recommended in an SBS-based environment. For reasons why, please see my response here: http:Q_23584975.html#22106
Then... if you changed the location for the user's files you needed to still keep the same name for it in order for the Add User Wizard to work. (ie, it must still be called \USERS).

ok thanks for that.
the issue i was trying to resolve was, when running the wizard, we specify which template to use, either user, admin...ect.
i wanted to modify this template so the logon script, ( which is named user.bat) is used instead of the standered sbs_.......bat.
rather than for each user created, having to modify the properties
Not really the best way to accomplish that. You really should keep the SBS_LOGIN_SCRIPT.bat file as the default login script.

What exactly are you trying to have happen with it?

only using it for mapped drives and printers.....
but do have 2 distinct groups, users and directors needing different mapped drives.
only reason i havent just modified the sbs_....bat is tidyness. so if any of my fellow engineers go to site the script name, defines its use.
if it's not posible to modify the templates, then thats ok.
i was trying to modify and it was not working for me and wondered if it was something i was not doing.

It's certainly possible to modify the templates. Actually, though, it's better to leave the default and create two new ones.
Basically though, you need to be sure to create separate OU's within Active Directory for each of these user groups. The additional OU's must be created below the MyBusiness\Users OU on the same level as the SBSUsers OU. Once you've done that, there will be a selection of which OU to use when you run the wizard to create a new template.
To be honest though, mapping drives based on security group/OU is really the "old" way to do things. These days, I find that SharePoint offers much more flexibility and provides users a much better collaboration experience. Creating separate document libraries within your SharePoint Companyweb might be a better alternative.
