I have run repadmin /showreps and I get and error:
"Can't retrieve message string 8456 (0x2108), error 1815"
The Directory Service Event Viewer displays an EventID: 1925
Description:
The attempt to establish a replication link for the following writable directory partition failed.
Additional Data
Error value:
8457 The destination server is currently rejecting replication requests.
I am pretty sure that this has occurred becuase of the offline time. Can any expert help me get this DC to successfully replicate again without having to do something drastic, like dcpromo.

Found the solution.
For others who come across this this is what happened.
1.. I ran a dcdiag on the offending dc02. It showed the error and suggested that I run 2 commands:
repadmin /options dc02 -disable_inbound_repl
repadmin /options dc02 -disable_outbound_repl
Once this was done I ran repadmin /showreps and it informed that all was now OK.
I then checked the Directory Service Event viewer and all previous warning events stopped occurring and were replaced by information events.
