Group Policy File Howto
I'm basically looking to add a .txt file to C:\test\ on every computer in my domain. I'm in the group policy editor - created my file - set it as "create".
The initial folder (where the file is stored) is shared.
The client computers are coming up with the error:
Event Type: Warning
Event Source: Group Policy Files
Event Category: (2)
Event ID: 4098
Date: 6/7/2009
Time: 8:51:10 PM
User: NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM
Computer: PC-0008
Description:
The user 'test.txt' preference item in the 'Default Domain Policy {31B2F340-016D-11D2-945F-0 0C04FB984F 9}' Group Policy object did not apply because it failed with error code '0x80070005 Access is denied.' This error was suppressed.

I'm not sure where the hang-up is. Any help would be appreciated. The target on each client computer is not shared - does it need to be?

make it a computer policy and the problems should go away.
and role it out on the root of the domain with a group limit for domain computers. deny access on servers if you want them excluded.

Sounds like a permission problem,
Consider to:
- Check permissions
- Happens to every user? (Local admins, users etc,.)
