Question

Windows 7, adminpak for 2003 servers, and exchange

Asked by: snoopaloop

I have windows 7 ultimate 32but on 2003 server domain environment.   I need the correct link for loading adminpak and is there a download link for the exchange component or do i have to load it off the CD?  Last thing, is the 64 bit of windows 7 not worthy of using in a large windows network environment because of compatibilty issues with printers and applications or is something to consider now?

For Windows Vista and Windows 7 you now use the remote server admin tool, you can get it for WIndows 7 here:

Make sure you are attempting to install the correct architecture version.

amd64 = Intel EMT64 or x64 bit OS. Vista/Windows 7 both indicate whether they are x86 or x64 via right click Computer --> Properties.

x86 is 32bit.

It's a robust Intel processor

Run the x86 32bit version.

I am downloading now as the file names are completely different than the previous version we have.

We no longer install 32bit versions of Windows on any platform unless there is a very specific need for it. The driver base for 64bit has matured now. Performance, pound for pound, will generally favour the 64bit platform.

Most business productivity applications, with the exception of custom Line of Business applications, will run fine on 64bit. If not, there is always XP Pro Mode on Windows 7 Ultimate or Enterprise.

There is no reason that I can think of that the install would be blocked. If it is installed, go to Programs and Features --> Add Features --> Add RSAT features.

They there?
