Question

Computer randomly deleted from Active Directory

So I added a computer to our domain yesterday upon reformatting it and giving it a new name.

Today, I find that the computer is unable to login to the domain. I checked Active Directory and the computer is no where to be found?

How is this possible? How is it possible that this computer could've just vanished from Active Directory without someone deleting it?

What can cause it? Is there anyway I can find out who may have deleted it?

This also has happened dozens of times before with other PC's.

Active directory doesn't automatically delete computer accounts from the Directory. Either:

The computer registration on the domain didn't succeed in the first place,or
It was registered with its old name, or
Someone with the right permission did it, or
The computer account exists but you are looking in the wrong place.

Are you using only one DC?
If not, could it be possible that by mistake it runs in non authoritative mode?
If only one, have you activated the auditing policies for objects success? then the event log will show what process or account is deleting the object.
