Search Filter for DirectorySearcher

Hi All,

I am working on a tool to fetch the groups starting with 'abc_*' and 'xyz_*' in an active directory.
Following is the line that I am using for a filter to fetch abc_*:
objSearchADAM.Filter = "(|(&(objectCategory=Group)(name=abc_*)))";
This works fine. but when i try to use the filter for both abc and xyz as follows, it throws me an error:
objSearchADAM.Filter = "(|(&(objectCategory=Group)(name=abc_*)(name=xyz*))";

Please let me know where am i going wrong

Also I think the OR = '|' at the outer level of the filter may not be necessary. Correct me if i am wrong.

After going from the link, i figured out that the correct syntax should be as follows:
 "(&(objectCategory=Group)(|(name=abc*)(name=xyz*)))";
             
Its working fine now.
