What is the maximum character length for a group name?

Can someone point me to the correct documentation that describes the maximum length for the name field of a Global domain group (i.e. Windows Server 2003 at present, 2008 in future)?

If the document contains name length limits for other object types, all the better.

I can't find any reference to it, but i've a gut feeling its 64 characters - I could be wrong !

I've found some info - http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc756101(WS.10).aspx#BKMK_NameLimits no mention of the group name limit though - OUs are 64 characters

You'd have to dig through this:

http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms675090(VS.85).aspx

Take a look at the RangeLower and RangeUpper values for the attributes you're interested in. For example, see the 16 character limit for the NetBIOS Name field:

http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms678700(VS.85).aspx

Or the Common Name, which is where the 64 character limit for OUs comes from:

http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms675449(VS.85).aspx

I couldn't find that in a simple list I'm afraid. However, both rangeLower and rangeUpper exist in the Schema, which means we could just have a script make a simple list for us. Want one?
