How to force Log off

Is it possible to remotely force log off a network user by a command from an application running on a Windows AD server?
If it is possible, is it a requirement that some software be installed on the client machines?
Are there some demos or samples available? I need to implement it in C++

you could just issue a SHUTDOWN command and speciffy the machine name

Shutdown -t 1 -r \\computername

Would force the computer called Computername to shutdown in 1 seconds time

It could be a web page and an ActiveX on it. That ActiveX should install something on the client machine and that something does logoff the user session when we connect to it from the server and ask to do so.
Is it possible to do this way?
