How to join to AD server across WAN

I am setting up a new AD replica server (Read Only) at our remote office. We have a VPN connection and both sides is able to access any device via IP.

But I am unable to get the new Windows 2008 server to join the currect domain - the error message says the domain is not found.

I have already set the new remote AD server to point its WINS server to the current AD server using IP address.  

Any suggestions? Thanks

How do you have DNS setup, is the current AD server a DNS server and are you pointing to that for DNS?

ok, maybe I install the DNS services first and temporarily point the DNS to the current AD. And then continue the AD setup.

Are the 2008 servers that you're trying to join to the 2008 domain pointed to the 2008 dc's DNS?????

Can you able to ping the FQDN of your domain from that 2008 server successfully.

Where is your current DC pointing to for DNS, to run AD you have to have DNS up and running on your network.
