Thanks for the input. You are the only one who at least took the time to read and answer. I think you are partially right but I was looking at more info on SFTP setup/applications.

I have created a RAID 1 500GB (3 partitions) computer running XP Home.
What I want to do: I have multiple users (approx 10). I want to allow users access to each of the 3 partitions based on some sort of security (XP or otherwise). So some users can get to all 3 partitions and some users only 2 and some only 1. I want the partitions to be accessible via Secure FTP so the users can access the box when in the office or on the road.
The box is on a simple workgroup network. Do I put the box in the DMZ of the Linksys router? Do I open ports on the router and keep it in the network? Obviously I want to keep people out.
I am looking for the best approach for this. Can anyone make suggestions?

I would suggest port mapping on the router and keep it on your network. If you put it in the DMZ then it is wide open for anybody on the Internet to try and get on it using protocols other than just plain FTP.
