FTP server in windows 7 server set up

Hello, I'm trying to set up FTP server which comes with Windows 7 Ultimate. (Fillezilla worked fine with Vista, but it looks after Win7 upgrade it has some issues and anyway I'd like to try MS product)   I installed FTP with IIS server through "Turn on Windows features on or off".
I can connect from the same machine to default web page http://localhost/ in web browser. But I can't connect to FTP server by typing ftp://192.168.1.1 (FTP server's local IP)
Does anyone knows a link or how to set it up correct.  Firewall is off for testing.

Are you positive your computers IP address is 192.168.1.1? Normally that's the address of the router. Go to windows button/search and type cmd and press enter. Then type ipconfig and look ip the ip address of your computer.

One more thing, did you actually add the ftp site after installing? You need to go to adminsitrative tools (in control panel) then internet information services manager, the on the left, hit the right arrow then right-click sites and click add ftp site. Enter all the info and users you want to work with and it should be enabled.

sorry about IP address I put it as example that I'm using intranet, my acctual IP is 192.168.254.28 my bad. Yes I add the site and that's there i got lost I think I just doesn't enable it or something. I tried to search online but can't find step by step settings how to do that on win 7. Any ideas I'm sure it is nothing super hard just couple check marks or something. Thanks for fast  replays.

Well I got to the point there it is asking for user name and password (needs to allow SSL) but I can't figure out how to set up user name and password, for a new user

I did it thanks for your help. Yeah sometimes just need that someone tells you that you are going right direction.... Otherwise i loose my patient

Glad you got it working! I actually never did it before but tested it with what you said. I was stumped for a few minutes on it not working as well until I actually added the rest of IIS and checked the add site link. A little push is all we need at times to accomplish our tasks.
