Neet help troubleshooting FTP connection with IIS

Asked by John500 in File Transfer Protocol (FTP), FTP Servers, Microsoft IIS Web Server

Greetings,

I'm having problems getting a good connection to IIS for FTP purposes.  I created an FTP site, a virtual directory mapped to a physical directory, put permissions on the site and anonymous logon rights to the physical directory itself (via Windows Explorer).

In terms of testing this connection, here are my results via three avenues:

1)  DOS, see the picture below.  This picture shows how that I get connected and then immediately booted out
2)  Internet Explorer (IE), this method allows me to access the FTP page without errors but will not show the root directory
3)  If I select the 'Page' button on IE to view the contents from Windows Explorer, I get nothing but a blank page.

In summary, it looks like I'm having two problems.  1) Connection seems to be a problem but using a browser doesn't reflect a permissions problem, only folder access.  2)  If connection wasn't a problem using IE, why isn't folder access allowed?

Thanks !
