How to measure throughput to a NAS or Windows Server Network Share by batch

Tags: throughput, measure, nas, network, windows
Hi Experts,
I search for a benchmarking Tool to measure the throuput from a client (Windows/Citrix Terminal Server) to different Network locations (Multiple sites, NAS and Windows Server File Shares).
Until now I was using the small old nbench.exe to test the effective "write on Network Location Performance". This tool is able to copy a file with a given size (to avoid cache impact) to any connected shares, even multiple at the same time. And on of its best, you don't have to install - yust run the 100k exe (http://www.pcwelt.de/downloads/tools_utilities/systemdiagnose/8073/)
The Tool is old but accomplished my needs until now. The CPU and Memory option I don't need.

It seems that I don't have a problem and don't need assistance - not quite:
My problem is that i'm not able to start this little tool within a batch. I have to test about 20 network Shares, NAS and Windows Shares, every 10 Minutes over 24 hours to discover bottlenecks at the LAN/WAN as the Server/NAS Box itself (Backup). It's not possible to start "my" tool as batch with command line options for Network location and copy file size.

So, finally, what I neet and gives you the point is either
a Testtools that can mesure the throughput on a network share by using commandline options
or
a script or batch file in a similar way

Thanks for your help - feel free to answer in german ;-)

The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.
