Can access my samba shares no problem.
In WindowsXP Home, have mapped a netwrok drive (J drive) to one of my samba shares.
Problem is this: when I reboot windows it doesn't remember the password for the mapped drive. I have to type it in manually and then all's good, until next time I reboot.
The windows username and password are different to the samba username and password. For example:
Windows:
username: george
password: password
Samba:
username: vincent
password: bigkahuna
When I click on the J drive it pops up a dialog with the username remembered (vincent) but no password.
How do I get it to remember the password?

hi john
thanks for suggestion... sorry for delay replying, things are very hectic for me at the moment and not getting onto EE much...
the thing is, if i want to add a samba user, don't i have to first create a user account for them in ubuntu? i don't really want to have a "george" user in ubuntu just for the sake of sharing a drive...

Why not try setting a Samba username and password on your Ubuntu box for your XP machine.
I.E., Add to Ubuntu Samba; george and password. This will work forever or until you change your XP user name or password.
That really should be the way to do it.
