Hi ,
I am using Fedora Core 8 with Samba 3.0.28a-0 .
When I type smbclient -L fedora -N, I get the following:
Anonymous login successful
Domain=[WORKGROUP] OS=[Unix] Server=[Samba 3.0.28a-0.fc8]
Sharename Type Comment
--------- ---- -------
IPC$ IPC IPC Service (Samba 3.0.28a-0.fc8)
Anonymous login successful
Domain=[WORKGROUP] OS=[Unix] Server=[Samba 3.0.28a-0.fc8]
Server Comment
--------- -------
MYSERVER Samba 3.0.28a-0.fc8
PETER-UBUNTU peter-ubuntu server (Samba, Ubuntu)
Workgroup Master
--------- -------
WORKGROUP PETER-UBUNTU
I was wondering why am I getting the PETER-UBUNTU when I am listing my local shares. There is a PETER-UBUNTU on my VM. But why am I picking it up even when I turn off my Ubuntu system. I can figure out that the first part means my Fedora workstation has a default workgroup called "WORKGROUP". and that the "sharename" $IPC means that I am not sharing anything. But how would you interpret the rest of the information?
Can someone tell me how to interpret the results that I am seeing.
Thanks.
Peter
