Microsoft, Systems Centre operations Manger (SCOM), 2007, Full installation on one Management server, 180 day evaluation version
I have built a new Windows server 2003 Enterprise Edition virtual machine for the purpose of evaluating SCOM2007. I have fulfilled all the prerequisites by installing the evaluation edition of SQL Server 2005 onto the same box, applying SP1 and the hotfixes.
SCOM2007 installs without any complaints, but when I use the discovery wizard with AD, the servers I want to monitor just get stuck in Pending Management. I am sucessfully installing from the Management server and the application log of the server I want to monitor is reporting the Agent has been sucessfully installed.
What & where should I check to resolve this please? If you need more info, please ask and I will provide - I am completely new to SCOM as I never used previous versions (MOM?). I have been using the "Mastering SCOM2007" book by Price, Mueller & Fenstermacher but am now stuck at what feels like the first hurdle!
This morning, I have reverted my VM to the point where all prerequisites were met and performed a new installation of SCOM 2007.
I logged on via RDP with a local administrastors account and "sucessfully" installed SCOM2007. During the process, I created the Action and SDK accounts. Both these accounts are Users and Administrastors on the RMS and on the server I wish to install the agent on.
I have run MOMADAdmin.exe and that has placed an entry in my AD
I have checked the SQL install and both the Action account and SDK account have the values specified by the install documentation.
Again, the Agent installs sucessfully (according to the Event Log) on the server I wish to monitor, but it remains stuck in Pending on the RMS.
I have searched this problem on here, Google and other forums and cannot find anything that is helping me. Please can someone make some suggestions?
We have sent a message to some of our more experienced Experts asking them to review your question, and will check back again to see if you are getting the help you need. I have also added zones to your question.
Thanks for your reply VMontalvao, we have tried the suggestions there and still no joy.
We are running the momagent.msi from the command line as a domain admin on the local server (also member of local admins) and the local server's event log is still returning the 21016 error messages even after following teh suggestions in the technet link you provides (i.e. setspn did not resolve our issue).
