Question

Add another rewrite rule

Asked by: Aknot

Hi & hello!

I have this in .htaccess

RewriteEngine On
Options +FollowSymLinks
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule ^([^/]+)/?$ /move/detail.php?moveid=$1 [L]

This rule make my urls work with >> www.domain.tld/move/235443/

Works perfekt, but I can't add another rewrite rule.
In the same folder /move/, I want to use more rewrite rules, that achives this:
Url >> www.domain.tld/move/more/235443/

The standard url is: /move/more.php?moveid=235443 (in the same folder; /move)

Thanks...

RewriteEngine On

RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !^/move/detail\.php.*$
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !^/move/more/.*$
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule ^([^/]+).*$ /move/detail.php?moveid=$1 [L]

Try that!

That will redirect /move/more/235443/   ==>   /move/more.php?moveid=235443
and will redirect /move/235443/   ==>   /move/detail.php?moveid=235443

Heres case-insensitive:

Options +FollowSymLinks
RewriteEngine On
RewriteBase /
RewriteRule ^/move/more/([^/]+).*$ /move/more.php?moveid=$1 [L]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !^/move/detail\.php.*$ [NC]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !^/move/more/.*$ [NC]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule ^([^/]+).*$ /move/detail.php?moveid=$1 [L]

Hi and thanks!

Im sorry to have to say that none of them works :(
Neither /move/more/235443/   ==>   /move/more.php?moveid=235443 or
/move/235443/   ==>   /move/detail.php?moveid=235443

Only the original:
RewriteEngine On
Options +FollowSymLinks
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule ^([^/]+)/?$ /move/detail.php?moveid=$1 [L]
==> /move/235443/ <==

What should I do? Check some logging?
The error that I recive is "file not found 404", in the browser, no errors from the apache server.

by: cduke250Posted on 2007-01-07 at 23:11:29ID: 18265176

yes check your logs, specifically your error logs

by: AknotPosted on 2007-01-07 at 23:18:49ID: 18265200

The error-log does not say anything. Is it possible to add rewrite logging to .htaccess maybe?!

by: ahoffmannPosted on 2007-01-07 at 23:38:27ID: 18265252

oops, miss the "no myself" condition, thanks for correcting cduke250

> .. add rewrite logging to .htaccess
what?
I guess you should yourself make used to apache first (which could not be done in a simple question here 'cause there exist zillion of books and papers about that:).
.htaccess is a permissions file and never be written by apache

You have to check your error_log and access_log 'cause apache write there what's going on and what is wrong. If you get a 404, you find the reason there, for sure (except you disabled logging at all).

by: cduke250Posted on 2007-01-07 at 23:57:51ID: 18265299

For logging you could do this:

1. create a file called phpinfo.php in your / directory (the / directory that /move/ is under)

2. the contents of phpinfo.php

<?php

phpinfo();

?>

3. Use this for your .htaccess file.

Options +FollowSymLinks
ErrorDocument 404 /phpinfo.php
RewriteEngine On
RewriteBase /
RewriteRule ^/move/more/([^/]+).*$ /move/more.php?moveid=$1 [L]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !^/move/detail\.php.*$ [NC]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !^/move/more/.*$ [NC]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule ^([^/]+).*$ /move/detail.php?moveid=$1 [L]

Now instead of getting a 404 error you will see debug information which will help you find out and tell us what file cannot be found.  then paste here.

Hi again!

Sorry if I did not explain myself clearly. I was in a big hurry this morning :/

I did not meant to log to .htaccess. What I meant, was to enable Rewrite-logging from the file .htaccess :) To, for example ==> /var/log/rewrite.log :)

Also, what i want to achive is this:

1. I have a directory on my web root, named, let's say move. (/move/) ok?

2. In this folder, I have several files, for example detail.php and move.php
/move/detail.php and /move/move.php

3. Now I want to be able to access these two files with the url
/move/235123/ and /move/more/235123/

The result should be something like this:
/move/detail.php => /move/235123/
/move/move.php => /move/more/235123/
/move/smack.php => /move/smack/235123/
/move/ooops.php => /move/ooops/235123/
/move/auth.php => /move/auth/235123/
and so on...

Here are some values of interest (?) from phpinfo();
==Apache Environment==
REDIRECT_REQUEST_METHOD  GET
REDIRECT_STATUS  404
REDIRECT_URL  /move/more/16458/
REQUEST_URI  /move/more/16458/
SCRIPT_NAME  /phpinfo.php
HTTP_REFERER  http://www.domain.xyz/move/16458/
REQUEST_METHOD  GET

==HTTP Headers Information==
HTTP Request  GET /move/more/16458/ HTTP/1.1
Referer  http://www.domain.xyz/move/16458/

Tell me if you need more info,
thanks again & best regards!

This should work..

Options +FollowSymLinks
RewriteEngine On
RewriteBase /move/
RewriteRule ^more/([0-9]+)    move.php?moveid=$1 [L]
RewriteRule ^smack/([0-9]+)  smack.php?moveid=$1 [L]
RewriteRule ^ooops/([0-9]+)   ooops.php?moveid=$1 [L]
RewriteRule ^auth/([0-9]+)     auth.php?moveid=$1 [L]
RewriteRule ^([0-9]+)            detail.php?moveid=$1 [L]

Ok I set up a test environment and this WORKS.

Options +FollowSymLinks
RewriteEngine On
RewriteBase /
RewriteRule ^move/more/([0-9]+)    /move/move.php?moveid=$1 [L,QSA]
RewriteRule ^move/smack/([0-9]+)  /move/smack.php?moveid=$1 [L,QSA]
RewriteRule ^move/ooops/([0-9]+)   /move/ooops.php?moveid=$1 [L,QSA]
RewriteRule ^move/auth/([0-9]+)     /move/auth.php?moveid=$1 [L,QSA]
RewriteRule ^move/([0-9]+)            /move/detail.php?moveid=$1 [L,QSA]

> ..did not meant to log to .htaccess.
ok, you're used to apache, somehow ;-)

> What I meant, was to enable Rewrite-logging from the file .htaccess :)
you nanot do that in .htaccess only in httpd.conf 'cause some information need to be written to the logfile before .htacces is consulted.
Probably modsecuriity (version 2 only) can do something similar, but that's out of scope her.

why is move.php different to all others? can you make that behave the same way, like
/move/move.php => /move/move/235123/
