Running perl scripts

Hey experts,

  If I want to try the default perl file in my apache installation http://localhost:8085/cgi-bin/printenv.pl , do I need to have Perl installed? and what else do I need configured to make sure perl scripts would run fine under the cgi-bin directory in my application?
