forum and blog sharing the user table

Hello experts,

My clients' website is hosted on a server running Apache.

I need to set up a forum and a blog for them, and am looking for a package that will have have the blog and the forum sharing the same user table.

It would be a plus if they shared the same graphics/stylesheets as well, so I only have to do the customization once.
It would be an even bigger plus if they share the sessions table, the ban table... etc, etc..

The client wants to create an online community, so I want to force users to have the same login name for both portions of the site, and I also want to make it convenient for the users by registering them for the forum and the blog in one shot.

Any ideas of open source software I can use for this?

If I don't find anything I need, I am going to try to install PHPBB3 for the forum and
B2Evolution for the blog, try to run them from the same database, and make minor customizations to make them share the same user table. I don't know how complext this will be, so I'd like to avoid doing it.

Any recommendations?
