Change owner for public_html directory

hi,

i just wanted to know can we make owner as apache for public_html directory.

public_html directory is root directory for any web site created in linux server having direct admin as control panel and apache / mysql / php configuration.

If i make public_html owner as apache will it make any difference in running web site or i will get forbidden error.
