The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not?   • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. apache + tomcat + load balancer

For the last 2 weeks I have been puzzling with Apache and Tomcat so they can connect correctly.

The problem I have is due to working on a cluster environment and I am not sure how to properly forward the Apache requests, when they are coming from a virtual url.

Let me explain my scenario the clearest I can.

I have installed Tomcat on two locations

http://test-qa1.website.com:8082
http://test-qa2.website.com:8082

Then I installed the JSPELL application on Tomcat webapps folder:

http://test-qa1.website.com:8082/jspellEvolution/test.html
http://test-qa2.website.com:8082/jspellEvolution/test.html

This works fine.

After that, I created a workers.properties file

worker.list= worker1
worker.worker1.host=test-qa1.website.com
worker.worker1.port=8009
worker.worker1.type=ajp13

and restarted Apache, so when I enter the URL:

http://test-qa1.website.com:8080/jspellEvolution/test.html
http://test-qa2.website.com:8080/jspellEvolution/test.html

it successfully redirects to Tomcat.


now, what I need to accomplish is to have Tomcat understand when the apache URL is

https://test-qa.website.com/jspellEvolution/test.html       (now uses ssl configuration)

redirection to the jspellEvolution application in tomcat succeeds.

I have not been able to figure out how this is accomplish either in the Apache httpd.conf file and the workers.properties.

Please any advice if you could possible provide would be so great.

I am attaching my apache conf file so you can see how it was built. I did not write it though.
