replacing a text string (regular expression help?)

I have a text string that includes IMG tags.
I want to strip out the path in the image tag ONLY if it doesn't start with "http://"

For example:
<IMG src="images/2003/january/image_name.jpg">

should be changed to:
<IMG src="image_name.jpg">

and the string below does not get changed since the SRC begins with "http://"
<IMG src="http://www.site.com/images/2003/january/image_name.jpg">

I had created this Regular Expression previously:

<CFSET my_string = "<IMG src=""images/2003/january/image_name.jpg"">">
<CFSET my_string = REREPLACENOCASE(my_string,"(<IMG[^>]+)(src=""[^""]+[/\\])([^>]+)>","\1src=""\3>","ALL")>

...but it ALWAYS strips out the entire path of the image.
How can I update it to ONLY strip out paths that DON'T begin with "http://" ? (I am currently using CF5)
Or is there a better way to go about this?
