Browse All TopicsHi experts,
What I want to do is to have a "Textarea"(within a <cfform>) in my coldfusion page and have the users upload news releases. I don't have the control over how big in size this news release would be !! so what i did was to use "blob" for that column in my MySql table... and when the news release was uploaded, i had an "Insert" command that dumped the info into the table. If I use the following, I get error "Unknown Types value " while Inserting values to the table.
<cfqueryparam value="#form.textarea#" cfsqltype="CF_SQL_BLOB">
if I dont use <cfqueryparam> uploading goes fines.. but while displaying the news body.. it gives me an error,
"ByteArray objects cannot be converted to strings"
now my question is how to solve this problem of course.. and one more
how do i retain the line breaks, paragraph, etc like the way we are posting here while displaying the information..

I think you would want a CLOB (not BLOB) field:
<cfqueryparam value="#form.textarea#" cfsqltype="CF_SQL_CLOB">
BLOBs are for binary data, while CLOBs are for text data.
Line breaks should still be in there -- just use ParagraphFormat(myField) in your output.
