The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Creating Navigation By Position of Current Record...

Asked by digicidal in ColdFusion Application Server

Tags: record, current, position

OK... I've been beating my head against this very simple problem for an hour now when it occurred to me to ask the question here.  This one should be really easy... unfortunately it's not for me at the moment.  I've been up for 22 hours, and my brain is mushed... here's a really easy 500 pointer for someone that can come up with an elegant solution.

Problem:  I have a query that returns a set of records that will provide content for a page.  I have navigational elements that will allow for changing the display of the current record (just like standard navigation buttons - << , < , > , >>).  All they need to do is move the current pointer to the first, previous, next, and last record in the query.    Now what I'm doing is requesting the file details which will build the page from a function in an external component (as a public method).

So essentially I'll just have the record ID for the current record.  What I want to be able to work with in navigation is this:

Providing the current detail record ID, and having a query of all detail records within the parent - return the current pointer location (the query is ordered by date) and the record ID's for the First, Prev, Next, Last records in the query.  It would be preferrable if the solution returned all the results in a single variable (either a structure or a List).View the Solution FREE for 30 Days
